This event is a casual networking event where Wayne State students will have the opportunity to talk with professors doing research in various STEM fields. Students will have the opportunity to ask the professors details about the research they do, what kind of qualities they are looking for in an undergrad researcher, and tips about how to get started in research. We will be serving light food to help foster the discussion between professors and students.
Dine with Professors is organized every year in the mid-Fall semester (November). This event is especially aimed at students who want to start research but do not know how. By introducing these students to professors who have established themselves in the research field, they can learn more about the research process and what types of research are available to them. This is also a great way for professors to recruit eager undergraduate students to their labs and showcase their work and expertise.

Our signature event for the winter semester is: Lab Fair for Summer Research. This is a networking/job fair event especially designed for undergraduate students to get a chance to talk to a representative from the research labs and seek open positions for the summer/fall UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program) application, which is due late March.

By having student representatives to showcase various labs that are looking to hire, perspective students can establish networks with these upper class research students and get insider information in the field. You can ask questions about the project involved, skills required, and to pass on their resume to the professor. This is also a great way for current research students to exercise their leadership skills, mentorship, and presentation skills. Lab Fair for Summer Research occurs every year around February- March.
